Born in Stamford CT the first of fraternal twins, Robert realized growing up in high school, friends, family and at times complete strangers would strike up conversations and begin telling their life story in intimate detail. As Robert got older he realized how humbling the experience can be, listening to people’s life stories while giving the individual a safe space to express themselves while also providing suggestions. This led to Robert pursuing Social Work. Graduating from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelors in Social Work and the following year obtaining Advanced Standing and graduating with a Masters In Social Work from New York University, Robert has continually pursued working with adolescent, young adult and adult individuals with mental health and addiction issues. Practicing professionally now for over 11 years with 8 of them being in private practice Robert was looking for something new to add to his repertoire. Meeting Mary by chance and having the opportunity to get certified in The Equus Effect Curriculum by having it dropped in his lap, Robert took the opportunity to get certified which now led to the development of The Turning Point.
Pat and Mary Trowbridge combine their resumes in the agricultural fields to bring a lifetime of experience to Trowbridge’s, Ltd.
Married in 1981, Pat and Mary worked separately expanding their business repertoires before deciding in 1991 that it was time to combine their talents and open their own business. As a team, the two bring an unparalleled, multi-faceted managerial prowess to their business, which today is located on the farm that they purchased in 2004 from legendary Broadway and movie producer, Mike Nichols. For over ten years prior to that purchase the Trowbridge’s ran their training business at the Nichols farm while managing his world-renowned Arabian horse breeding business, and enjoyed a deep friendship with the legendary horseman and Arabian enthusiast.
The Turning Point will join the still vibrant and nationally recognized Arabian Breeding, training, showing and sales programs at Trowbridge’s Ltd., on one of the oldest Arabian farms still in existence in the U.S. today. Besides the equine and lesson programs, the farm is also home base for two major Arabian horse non-profits that the couple have founded, The Arabian Horsemen’s Distress Fund and the Arabian Horse Promotional Fund.
The farm is an oasis of rural New England beauty, located close to major cities and airports, and has become a haven for hundreds of people that have found peace, learning, and enlightenment thanks to the Arabian Horse. Excited to partner with entrepreneur Rob DiRoma, we welcome you to join us in your learning journey at The Turning Point at Trowbridge’s Ltd.
Horses chose to partner with humans over 5000 years ago and have been crucial to the development of mankind until the mid 1900’s. This partnership has given them the instinctive ability to interface with humans in an effective, kind, and non judgemental way. Although longer used for farming, location, food or fighting, they still retain the ability to take forward to wherever we need to go in life.
